Susan Percy, an award-winning journalist based in Metro Atlanta, is an experienced editor, writer, columnist, and reporter, specializing in business and government-related topics.
She is a regular contributor to Georgia Trend Magazine, a monthly publication covering Georgia business, politics, government, and economic development. Susan served as executive editor and editor of the magazine from 2001 through 2013 and was editor-at-large from 2014 until 2022. She wrote an opinion column for the magazine for more than 20 years.
Under her leadership, the magazine won 30 first-, second-, or third-place awards for editorial excellence from local, regional, and national organizations, including the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Alliance of Area Business Publications (AABP), the Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS), and the Atlanta Press Club.
Her own work has been honored many times over by professional organizations. She was inducted into the Magazine Association of the Southeast Hall of Fame in 2008 for her contributions to magazine journalism.
Most recently, she shared a first-place SPJ Green Eyeshade award for Serious Commentary, magazines, for a selection of her Georgia Trend columns and a Green Eyeshade Public Service Gold Award for magazines for coverage of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Her monthly Georgia Trend column, “Business Casual,” has won first- and second-place awards for commentary in the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ) Green Eyeshade competition, as well as from the Alliance of Area Business Publications (AABP).

Susan previously served as senior editor and managing editor at Atlanta Magazine; she has worked for newspapers in California and Louisiana.
Additionally, her work has appeared in USA Today, The Reader’s Digest, The Harvard Health Newsletter, Georgia Magazine, Terry Magazine, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, Allure, America West, and The Ladies’ Home Journal.
Susan is a native Atlantan and a sixth-generation Georgian. She has an ABJ cum laude from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia and has been inducted into the Grady Fellowship, an honor given to individuals whose work brings credit to the college. She is a member of the Atlanta Press Club and a past member of the Grady Society Alumni Board at UGA and the Emory University Ethics Center Media Advisory Council.
